A gang of girls aged 16 to 17 may have used the internet to make a bomb that killed a man and destroyed three homes in their feud with another teenager. The teenager had called the police that morning to complain that the girls outside were threatening her and a bad smelling liquid had been poured through her letterbox. Detectives believe that the blast could have been caused by vapours from methylated spirits or from a high explosive such as methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, which can be made from readily available ingredients using instructions found on the internet.
Children now are greatly affected by the new media. In addition, teenagers would be curious to almost anything that they are not exposed to in this world and yet at the same time they are often not mature enough to differentiate the rights and the wrongs. With the exposure to the excessive and easily obtained information on the internet, it increases the possibilty of teenagers to act on impulse and out of curiosity, not bearing in mind the heavy consequences that it might result in, which is shown in this event.Hence, children now are more difficult to bring up as compared to children in the past, as more concern is required from parents in filtering the information children received online.
Also, the society could have resulted in the change of today's mindset of children. The various events of serial killings, terrorism, riots and strikes might have given them the mindset that the use of violence and threat will be an effective way to settle their dispute. Hence, they looked up for details on home-made bombs and resorted to bombing the person's house as a revenge method.

However, looking at the pictures, is it really worthwhile to sacrifice a life and 3 houses just for minor feud? Have the girls put themselves into the teenagers and the victims' shoes instead of only thinking about achieving their self contentment from the revenge?
Therefore, in my opinion, not only the parents are at fault, the society as a whole as well as the children are responsible for the current change in behaviour and minset of children. There is a need to educate the teenagers not just by punishment but also teaching them the correct values and the development of their character, so as to minimise the influence of a materialistic society.
